Obituary
Persis Khambatta is best remembered for her role as the Deltan navigator, Lieutenant Ilia in Star Trek The Motion Picture - a role in which she revealed her long legs and bare head.

She also appeared in the movies Nighthawks, Megaforce, The Wilby Conspiracy and My Beautiful Laundrette.  She guest-starred on such television shows as Hunter, McGyver and the pilot episode of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman

Persis was an internationally reknowned model, former Miss India and Miss World, and a "movie-star" much loved by millions of India's avid movie - goers.  Shortly before her sudden death, Persis wrote a large-format coffee table book about the history of the "Miss India" pageant entitled Pride of India.

Persis Khambatta suffered a massive heart attack and died on Tuesday 18 August 1998 at a hospital in Bombay, India.  She was just 49 years of age.

Farewell Persis. Thanks for being Ilia & for bringing a remarkable and memorable character into the Star Trek family.  This page is dedicated to your achievements and to your memory.

Till we meet in the next frontier.      J9, 21 August 1998.
